Why is home fellowship group ministry so important?

 In 1 Corinthians 14:26, Paul makes it plain that everyone is to be involved in building up others, "How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, and has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification."

The act of being taught by someone else, learning for yourself, and passing it on to someone else, is the pattern for discipleship.  Most people grow and change by watching others, not just by reading books. That's why home fellowship groups are so powerful.
